QUESTION

Would a petty theft charge affect me from getting my us citizenship?

Asked on Apr 05th, 2019 on Immigration - Florida
More details to this question:
I have a petty theft charge from 2009 and wanted to apply for my citizenship in 2019. I have been with the same job for the last 6 years, got married and have not been in any trouble since. Do you know if this will affect my chances of becoming a us citizen?

I'll give you the typical attorney answer of "it depends". Were you convicted? What was your sentence? Have you had any prior convictions? If you haven't had any other trouble with the law, it probably won't negatively affect your citizenship efforts, but there is no way to know for sure based on the info you posted. It's best to contact an Immigration Attorney for a more in-depth analysis and consultation.
