More details to this question:
We've been dating 6 years. He's from Ghana and I'm from the US. He is currently in the US. We're trying to determine if entering back into the United States won't be a problem if he leaves here and go back to his country.

You should consider applying for permanent residency for him before he leaves. Consult with an attorney to make sure that he qualifies to adjust his status.

Significantly more information is needed in order to properly assess the pros and cons of marrying here or abroad. What type of visa does your fiance have now? When did he enter the U.S. with that visa? Etc. It would be wise for your fiance and you to confer with an immigration attorney who, after learning all of the relevant information about him and your relationship and goals, would be able to advise you about these issues.

You need to speak with an attorney. It is always better to resolve the issues in the US, but it depends on many factors.
