My permanent resident card will expire in 90 days and I need to to fill out an I-90 form. The is a question that says "Have you ever been removed from the United States?" Twelve years ago while crossing the border with my dad, my Visa and Employee card was cancelled since we were not supposed to leave the country while I was applying for my residency. I was prevented entry into the states. We had to start the process again and I was granted my permanent resident card the following year. The question is: Was I removed since I was never permitted entry? Is this consider a deportation?
As you received your permanent resident card the year following the refusal of your admission, you were not removed from the country. A removal order would bar you for 5 years if in a summary removal process, and 10 years in the regular process. Removal orders also come with a plethora of paperwork to allow you to understand that you have been removed. So your situation would not be considered a removal.
