QUESTION

Bed bug bitten in Plantation..

Asked on Oct 06th, 2017 on Insurance - Florida
More details to this question:
Oct 3rd at the Sawgrass Inn hotel and conference center. 7am I was awakened by a large bed bug crawling on my face! I had bites on my face and body. My service dog was itching. I cleaned us up, tossed my goose down pillows.. told the hotel, tried to show them bites and the collection of bed bugs.. They didn't care, but comped my room for the 2 nights I was in there. Housekeeping begged me to not go to the health dept. because they would shut down the entire hotel. I didn't go to the doctor, treating with holistic meds.. still burning and itching, not able to sleep from it and fear of these other beds. I was told a lawyer may be able to reach a settlement with the insurance company, and to wait to go to the Health Dept. If anyone may have an idea how to this, please let me know. It's Fri and keeping these bed bugs all weekend is not something I want either! I have a video of them in the cup and some pix of bites.. Email is best, My phone's got salt water issues! Thank you

Sadly - you "were told" alot of things that were simply wrong. You need to hire a lawyer ASAP to see what can be done and a claim made - but don't hold your breath, especially with no objective documentation and "holistic" self care rather than medical care. Absent separate evidence of an infestation you may find the hotel treating this as a nusinace value/shakedown case.
