Should I obtain a lawyer?

More details to this question:
My insurances lapsed on 1/13/2025 but my parked vehicle was hit by a driver 1/16/2025 supposedly the driver was having a medical issue but the officer didn’t get the drivers insurance info

Sure, but it might cost you more than the cost of the repairs to do so.  Equally, if a medical condition occurred - it might eliminate any claim of "negligence" leaving you to pay for the damages if you allowed your insurance lapse for some reason.
