I got into an accident with my bfs moms vehicle on the way to pick him up. I called her son as the accident was near his job. He and the other driver exchanged numbers and decided to handle outside of insurance. A month later I get a mail stating that the accident was my fault and that my licence would be suspended if I didnt have insurance. I immediately made a claim with his mom's insurance and now she's telling her insurance company she doesnt want them to get involved according to her son, she doesnt want her premium to go up. What do I do? The accident wasn't my fault. Can the state suspend my license even though the car was insured and I had permission to drive it? I would have never touched the car if I thought it could go this route.
Generally, if you had permission from the vehicle owner to drive the vehicle, you should be covered under the policy. The insurance company will be able to tell you if it accepted coverage for the accident. If not, contact a lawyer.
