QUESTION

What will happen if I go against a lawyer's advice?

More details to this question:
We hired a lawyer to file a claim with our insurance company for a sink hole at our home. I told her the insurance company is telling us to change the roof or they will drop us. She never spoke to them. Now we have less than the 60 days to file a paper to the insurance company to let us wait until after the claim to replace the roof. They lawyers assistant says we may not be able to replace it. She says they will drop us and no one will pick us up. We will have to go through the mortgage company which will be too much. When we called to speak to the lawyer she eventually picked up the phone, said they are moving buildings and we will have to call back. She then hung up on us. What will happen if we replace the roof without the lawyer giving is the ok? If the lawyer is going to refuse to speak to us what happens if I tell her I no longer want her to represent us?

You have the right to be represented by the lawyer of your choice.  If you do not feel that this lawyer is providing adequate representation, you have the right to retain another lawyer and have that lawyer substitute in place of the current lawyer.
