QUESTION

Do I have to pay?

Asked on Feb 07th, 2012 on Intellectual Property - Georgia
More details to this question:
I recently received a notice of copyright infringement for a photo I used on my website. I immediately took it down but their letter states that I still have to pay them $300.00 for retroactive use of their image. The notice I received was the first notice, there were no warnings of any kind.

As a general matter, you are not entitled to a "warning" before being liable for copyright infringement. If you ignore the notice, it seems unlikely that there will be enough bait there for them to sue you. If in doubt, contact an attorney.
