I have a fashion idea and want to patent it. The USPTO is confusing and I'm not sure if an idea can be patent. Their website says I can not patent an idea, but other websites say they can help me (Inventors.com and etc). I don't know if this idea has been patented as I'm having a haard time trying to do a seach. The idea is in the "ear muff" family, but not.

There is not enough information to adise you specifically, but given your problems, i recommend that you contace a patent attorney to arrange for a professional search to be conducted and the results evaluated. While an idea cannot be patented, it appears that you have a manner of implementing your idea contemplated and that implementation is what you would patent.
