How can I stop someone from publishing my work online?

More details to this question:
Someone on the internet keeps posting an article that I wrote to a bunch of websites. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? Should I consider hiring an attorney?

Send a "cease and desist" letter to the person who is posting your article and notify each of the web sites that you own the copyright to the work, have not granted permission to anyone to use the work (post it on-line), and demand that they remove it from their site. If no one cooperates, an attorney can help you get it taken down.

Contact a copyright lawyer near you. He/She can advise you regarding the Digital Millennium Copyright Act - which gives you rights in your original article posted by another on the Internet. Possible actions include "take-down" notices to the Internet providers that accepted the postings by the other person. Good Luck!
