More details to this question:
I am starting up my own business and would like to trademark the name. I did some research and it appears there are similar names, but no other names exactly like mine. In my research I read that names can be denied for several reasons. Please advise me on how I go about trademarking my name. Regards, Nanci

Two suggestions. You could file it on your own as described at www.uspto.gov/trademarks/process/index.jsp. Or you could hire an attorney to assist you.
