Is it possible to patent an idea that uses existing technology in a new way?

More details to this question:
I have an idea that changes how a computer is used/accessed. there is no new technology that will be used. however, it is a new configuration that is not currently available for purchase. could an idea like this potentially be patentable once it is explained in more detail?
