QUESTION

When should I file for a trademark?

Asked on Jun 05th, 2011 on Patents - Oregon
More details to this question:
I want to start my own t shirt line. Ex.- "hurley" "dc" "Quicksilver" etc. I was just wondering if I should trademark my idea before start printing shirts. I don't want to spend a lot money on trademarking if my idea isn't successful (which I hope it will be) but if it is I don't want someone taking my idea if I do start making shirts before I trademark.

Cheapest way is to file what is known as an "Actual Use" trademark application on the day you make your first TV sale with the trademark on the t shirt.
