QUESTION

Will my patent grant me greater protection?

Asked on Feb 11th, 2011 on Patents - Oregon
More details to this question:
I improved upon an existing form of prayer beads, turning them into a wearable form of jewelry. I started online in 2006. I use existing components to assemble the piece. Is it worth the time to patent this or can someone use different components and essentially create the same thing and not be infringing on the patent?

If you apply for a design patent it will protect the general way it looks or anything that can essentially be deemed by the jury to closely represent it. These are che4ap. However if you have been selling these for more than 1 year you have lost the right to file for a patent.
