QUESTION

Any grounds for legal action?

Asked on Oct 27th, 2013 on Wrongful Termination - North Carolina
More details to this question:
Today I was terminated from my job at a private owned country club due to a pending police investigation. The Police Department called my job to inform them of an allegation involving nothing to do with the country club I worked at. The situation is a few days ago I received a phone call from the police department about text messages being sent to a local resident. I went to the police department to find out what was going on and was told they would do more investigating about the case but nothing would possibly come of it unless the family of the accuser pursues it further. Even though I can prove my innocence. My question is though is the police department allowed to call my job and tell them of the situation when none of it has anything to do with my job what so ever? I'm just curious because I was terminated due to my job having found out. So is there any type of legal action I can take about them calling my job and telling them before anything was proven in a court of law?
