Asked on Dec 30th, 2014 on Labor and Employment - New Hampshire
More details to this question:
I am a manager, i have close to 15 people reporting to me at work. One of the associate seems to have hacked my password and retrieved my conversation with my another reportee (female) and has forged the conversation. Now he is blackmailing me through phone threatening he would send this forged conversation to HR department and post in social network, unless i promote him to next level. I am not sure what else information he has breached using my computer, since i hold all my personnel and financial information's in my computer. I sincerely appreciate your time and effort in answering my query. Please advise.

Update Your Profile
What you describe is criminal behavior. If the female worker will support that the conversation is forged, you first step is seeing your boss. I assume your company has an attorney who can then advise you both. You'll also want to get a credit monitoring service, which your company may be willing to pay for given the circumstances. I am sorry you find yourself in this spot, but your best move is to get in front of it. The longer you wait, the more it will appear you engaged in wrongdoing. Good luck.
