QUESTION

Can I be fired for not being able to read handwriting?

Asked on Oct 03rd, 2013 on Labor and Employment - Idaho
More details to this question:
This may sound crazy, but I was fired from my job as an executive assistant because I could not read my boss' handwriting (it's basically illegible). I thought I'd be able to get the hang of it, but no one else in the office could help decipher it (as far as I know only my predecessor could read it). My boss said he didn't have time to teach me so fired me after 2.5 weeks. Is there any way I could get insurance or severance?

Severance is not required by law in CA. The employer did not violate the law in terminating you for this reason.

You can be fired for any reason yes, including not being able to read the supervisors' writing just not because you are gay, Christian, born in Norway, female, and Asian (sexual preference, religion, national origin, gender or race cannot be grounds for termination).
