I have been working with this national chain for more than a decade with great performance reviews year after year. Since probably 2 or 3 yrs we got a new DM who’s actions look like racist. Recently he started picking on me. In the annual review, even though my immediate supervisor gave me good comments, he edited the overall rating to “Performance consistently low”. I was mad and wrote an email to HR but no response yet. I am assuming they might be preparing for my departure. So I need to plan to prepare for that
I am not exactly sure what you mean by "decline to acknowledge", but your employer can require you to sign a performance evaluation and terminate you if you refused to do so. If there is anything in the performance evaluation that you disagree with, you should note that you disagree near your signature. However, most large corporations perfomance evaluation forms note that signing the document is only acknowleging that you recieved the document which is fine.
