More details to this question:
I am an assistant manager at a retail store my manager got fired in November of 2015 I've been playing acting manager since. I was told when I started playing the roll that I would get a promotion and a raise this month (March) I went into work with a sprained ankle and a doctors note giving me 5 days off no one was willing to help cover in my store so I had to go into work and work with my sprained ankle. I started having anxiety attacks so I went to see my doctor and she told me it's due to work I'm always working I get called in on my days off and I feel like I can't say no because they have me as "acting" manager. I am salary so I don't get paid for any over time I do. This job has me to the point where I'm having anxiety attacks. I feel like I can't talk to anyone in the company because they all work together. Do I have to play this "acting" manager role with no extra pay or can I refuse.

Well if you're afraid now to say anything, I'm not sure any advice you get in this forum is going to be helpful from a practical standpoing.  What if I say you're entitled to extra pay?  What are you going to do about it?  Abuse of "assistant managers" in the retail world is well known.  They try to characterize you as management so the can avoid paying you overtime.  There have been many lawsuits over this issue.  The answer really depends on our job duties and specific facts.  The retail world is a tough place to be -- if its causing you anxiety best to find a new line of work as soon as you can.
