Can I file for wrongful termination

More details to this question:
I was terminated 5/20/13 the reason given was something beyond my control, I did have several write ups but had been threated by my manager that this would happen.

North Carolina is an employment-at-will state which means you can be fired at any time for any reason even if the reason is unfair or unjust.  The only time you can file a wrongful termination claim is if the termination was motivated by unlawful discrimination or unlawful retaliation.
