I use to work for a bank a few years back for almost 6 years. I resigned from them on a good not. Also, was assured that I would be able to return if I wanted to in future. When a year later I re applied I was contacted by the hr who told me that i was not eligable for a rehire. Since this was a bank and the reason they stated was some of the accounts that I had opened came back as low quality account. Which means customers were not using them. During these 6 years I was never put on any disciplinary action for anything negative. I had moved from a part time teller to a branch assistant manager within the 3 years I was with them. I was always recognized for my good work. Can I sue my ex employer for this?
Unless the bank's real reason for not wanting to rehire you is based on some type of illegal discrimination (e.g., age, race, etc.), then they can refuse to rehire you if they truly believe too many of the accounts you brought in were "low quality". They would not need to have warned you about this in the past. If they are simply using this as a pretext for another illegal reason (such as age or race, etc.), then you may be able to take action. You would need to review your case with an employment attorney to confirm there was something to pursue
