can I sue my work for safety issues

More details to this question:
My employer refuses to give me the correct safety equipment that I need I have told them several times and took it as far as the HR person now they suspended me for not wearing my safety gear that they will not provide me.

Dear Anonymous, You can not sue your employer directly for a safety issue such as you describe.  However, if your employer is not providing you with safety equipment as required by state law, they may be in violation of the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Act (IOSHA).
