QUESTION

Can my ex-boss keep my next paycheck?

Asked on Apr 12th, 2014 on Labor and Employment - Ohio
More details to this question:
I recently quit my job because I felt I was being treated unfairly in the workplace. I did not give 2 weeks notice, but instead just quit. My boss informed me through text that I owed him 50 dollars and if I didn't give him the money owed, he would withhold my next paycheck. He then said that he could do it because I didn't give 2 weeks notice. I don't think he can do this, and I don't remember signing any contract or anything like that, so I'm pretty sure there isn't any way that he can keep it. Also, couldn't I get him in trouble for bribery?

An employer must pay an employee within 30 days of the regularly scheduled payday. He cannot keep your check.
