Can someone be fired for a medical reason?

More details to this question:
My contract ended due to a medical issue that I have been trying to solve. I am wondering if I should sue or just let it go?

In general, it is permissible to terminate an employee for a "medical issue" as long as it is not a "disability" and the employee hasn't made an effective and timely election to take FMLA leave.
