Since the day I transferred to a southern location of my employer I've been discrinated against because from the north.i was called know- it-all northern among other things. My supervision and her friends are the ones who are smearing my name,spreading false rumors etc.my first day she made my put a long sleeve shirt on because my shirt wasn't appropriate even though others had the same type shirt on.it was 95 out I almost passed out.her and her bff lead over me stood watching me giggling like school girls.this continued for 6 years.i have been with company 32 years with excellent record ive made a formal complaint against her.made to feel like I did something wrong then was retaliated against by her and her friends. After awhile I thought it may be getting better till she yelled and humiliated me for no reason .i told boss about it now I'm Being written up and suspended.4 write ups in a few weeks.im going to file a eeoc but I'm scared if i go back will they add to the false aligation
That is certainly up to you and is a practical question for which you will need to consider things such as your financial situation, options for a new job, etc. However, I can tell you definitively it is not unlawful to discrimination against you because you are "from the north." It may not be fair, but it clearly is not unlawful. Therefore, a complaint that you have been discriminated against on that basis will not be a protected activity. You can only file with the EEOC if your claim is based on race, color, sex, national origin, religion, disability, age 40 or older or in regards to certain genetic information.
