QUESTION

Do I qualify for overtime pay?

Asked on Apr 06th, 2016 on Employment Contracts - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
My pay period runs from Friday to Thursday. If I was to work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (8 hours each day) I will have accumulated 56 hours within a 7 day period, does that mean I qualify for overtime pay or, because my pay period splits the days up so I would have worked 24 hours in week 1 and 32 hours in week 2, I do not?

In order to be eligible for overtime (assuming you are a non-exempt employee under federal law), you'd have to work in excess of 40 hours in a weekly pay period however that pay period is defined by your employer.  So If you work more than 40 hours in the pay period from Friday to Thursday, you'd be eligible for overtime most likely.
