QUESTION

Employee Discounts

Asked on Sep 25th, 2014 on Labor and Employment - Ohio
More details to this question:
I work at a burger chain that is privately owned. They offer a 50% discount on one meal a shift. I always get my meal after my shift because they do not give breaks. The other day I was running late and took my meal with me to go pick up my son, and I was told this is not allowed. That if I took another employee meal off the premises that I could be fired. I feel like even though they are offering me a discount, once I pay for the food it is my property and they cannot tell me what I can and cannot do with it.

You are receiving a discount because the discounted meal is offered only to feed employees. Your employer may put this contingency on the meal without any legal recourse.   Ohio employment lawyer www.mcoffmanlegal.com
