QUESTION

Employment Contract

Asked on Jun 25th, 2014 on Labor and Employment - North Carolina
More details to this question:
I was hired a year ago in a work from home recruiter position for a large retail organization. Recently, they eliminiated my boss' position and we have a new boss who is requiring that I work from an office. There are six of us in this situation and we are all upset about it. This was not the work location that I was hired to work at. There is nothing in our written offer that states work location, but it was an oral contract that they have adhered to for the last year. They are not willing to offer us a severance package. Do we have cause to sue for breaking our employment contract?

I do not see a legal claim other than a possible employment contract violation.  However, it will depend on what the employment contract says.  If it was only an offer letter or an oral agreement, then your employment is "at will" and there would likely be on cause of action.
