Fired on a doctors note is that right?

More details to this question:
Ok I was really sick called in 30min late for over sleeping due too meds but called in said I was going too the doctor went too an urgent care center was really sick had too take a week off for having the flu called left voicemail and tried again the am come too find out they fired me

If you were a full time employee for the last 12 months and your company employes at least 50 people, it is possible you might be protected under the FMLA.  You would have to had continuing contact with the employer so they knew how long you might be off.  Simply showing up one week later with a note would not protect you if the employer had no notice you would be off sick for a week
