QUESTION

How can I get a refund statement?

Asked on Nov 01st, 2013 on Labor and Employment - Idaho
More details to this question:
I attended this computer institute. The entire program lasts 8 weeks. I withdrew after the first week because it was not what I expected. I paid more than $4,000.00 in full. But, I ended up receiving 50% back from the original amount. It stated in the conditions if I withdrew, I was going to get a refund for 50% of the amount paid until that day. I should've never paid in full. On top of that, when I asked for a refund, this is what they wrote to me: "Our payment system only produces receipts for charges, not refunds. I have outlined the details of the refund below. Please let me know if you need any other information. Refund: Date: October 29, 2013 Amount: $1,875.00 Card Refunded: **** **** **** 9145. It was never stated under conditions that I wasn't going to get a refund statement. I think I'm entitled to get a refund statement. Even though is just a piece of paper, I need it as a proof for taxes purposes.

Do you have any other way of contacting this institute? It is possible that a phone call could clear up the situation. If you are looking for a specific statement, they be able to create one for you. If not, and you are looking for proof for tax purposes, the e-mail you received should suffice. You have a receipt for the amount paid, and that e-mail confirms the amount of your refund. The remainder is the amount paid for the program.

I do not know the answer. This is not an employment law question. Have you considered filing a suit against them, or perhaps disputing the credit card charge?
