I work for Columbus international airport and I feel that they were discriminatory against me because I'm not of a certain race. I work with 75% Ethiopians. I had to work Christmas Eve, Christmas, new years eve, new years day and also easter. I asked my Ethiopian manager if I could leave an hour early on easter to spend timr with my family. And I was told if she has to be there then I have to be there. Now yesterday April 12th was the Ethiopian easter holiday. And for their holiday they let everyone that was Ethiopian have the day off for easter. But because I'm not Ethiopian and american they think that easter is not a big deal to me when it is. I just don't understand how they let over 75 people of one race have the day off. Its not fair to me or anyone else that's is not Ethiopian. Do I have a legit case?
What you are describing may be considered reverse race discrimination and/or religious discrimination. Although reverse race discrimination are tough. In addition, you have not suffered an "adverse employment action" because of your race or religion so you wouldn't have a discrimination claim yet. However, you may want to review your employment handbook and submit a written complaint for reverse race discrimination and religious discrimination. If the discrimination on these bases were to persist or you are retaliated against for your complaint, then you may have a claim for retaliation.
