Your best bet is to send a termination letter and pay off any remaining bill specifically stating that you no longer wish the attorneys representation and that he is relieved of any additional responsibility regarding the case. There can be complications, especially in contingency fee cases. You might wish to engage another attorney to look into the matter prior to the time you take this action.
