How to collect payment from weeks worked?

Asked on Apr 03rd, 2012 on Employment Contracts - Tennessee
More details to this question:
I have received 2 weeks of pay in check form, from my employer (now ex-employer). The owner of the company passed away before checks were received and now the bank that the checks were written from will not cash them. Is there anyway to receive the money for the weeks that I worked?

Update Your Profile
You employer is required by Tennessee statute to pay you at least twice a month.  From the information in your question, it sounds like he was behind in payments because a financial institution normally would not refuse to honor a check.  You may request from your employer that new checks be issued.  To the extent your employer was a sole proprietorship, and therefore, upon his passing, the business ceased, you will have a right to file a claim against his estate.
