Several weeks ago I tore a muscle in my back pretty badly. I went to the doctor and got a note specifying that I was able to return to work, but only light duty until it healed. I spoke to management and asked to not close the store as often, since closing involves a lot of manual labor that put a lot of strain on my injury, and I was told that shouldn't be an issue. Since then, the number of closing shifts I had increased by over 50%, and I was told if I missed a day or had to leave early because of the injury I would be fired so I worked the shifts despite the injury. The only accommodations I asked for was to have another employee help me move heavy objects and a chair to sit in while doing dishes (as otherwise I'd have to bend over for long periods of time, which was quite painful). Today, when I got up to grab more dishes, a manager grabbed the chair and walked off with it, and told me I had two choices: injure myself doing the dishes standing or I'd be fired. So I got fired. There has also been a significant amount of sexual harassment in the workplace (one manager would repeatedly threaten to choke female employees with his penis, another would constantly make 'jokes' about raping employees) that I've put up with. Do I have any legal recourse against them? Thank you.
