i was fired from a privately owned daycare without a reason.

More details to this question:
My boss was nasty to me when I went into work. He told me he does not need me anymore in front of the staff. I work very hard everyday and for more hours than the other staff. I work for a privately owned daycare and the person that fired me, is the owner. I told my boss that I a m open to constructive criticism regarding my work performance. Instead, my boss talked behind my back to the other staff. I feel I am good at my job and follow guidelines regarding my job discription. I am deeply hurt over this. What are my rights in this situation?

New Jersey is an 'at will' employment state. The 'at will' legislation states that both the employer and the employee agree that the employment is at the will of the employer. No reasons need to be givening for the termination. I would strike a bargain market with the employer so that you do not have any issues with unemployment compensation. Ed Dimon
