QUESTION

I was fired suddenly and without cause.

Asked on Nov 22nd, 2022 on Wrongful Termination - Michigan
More details to this question:
I was a teacher for 14 yrs and was suddenly fired. For 4 months I asked to be told why, they finally met with me and basically refused to answer my questions and refused to let me record the meeting. There is a handbook which outlines reasons to be fired and what I did (made a bulletin board that was “confusing” to parents) is not even close to a reason listed. They also lied and says they “worked with me” which is a step they are supposed to take before termination. I became deeply depressed and was hospitalized for stress. My kids still go to this school and I have to go there often which causes me a lot of stress. I want to hire an attorney just so nothing like this happens again, But I’m an out of work teacher with 4 kids. And I don’t even know if I have a case or if it’s been too long. There was also rumors and slander that happened bc no one knew why I was fired. I tried applying to other schools and they wouldn’t even return my emails bc they had heard bad rumors.
