Is a longer lunch considered compensation?

More details to this question:
I currently work for a big name retailer and my managers required some of my fellow associated and I to work thirty minutes pass our clock out time. Now in order to avoid giving us overtime they require us to take an longer lunch. Is this legal?

Yes.  Your employer can adjust your hours of work to avoid overtime.
