QUESTION

Is it right for another employee to dictate when I can work?

Asked on Jan 07th, 2015 on Employment Contracts - Georgia
More details to this question:
The current or acting manager was told by another person, that I could only work certain hours or days, and I told her that if she doesn't hear it from me then it's not true and I asked for more hours. Nothing changed, so when I found a weekend job, everyone is like "Oh, she must think she's special. I'm not going to be working every weekend, and so on. "but my schedule has been the same for almost 2 years now. And if I need a day off, I'm just missing a day, but if another employee needs a day off, they give them one of mine to accommodate for any time loss. Is that right?

I'm guessing that a supervisor or manager makes your schedule. Unfortunately, there is no general rule against preferential treatment; however, employers cannot violate the law, as in discriminating against employees.
