More details to this question:
I left a company and sent out an email to all contacts in my email contact list notifying them of my new position. No non-compete agreement with former company. Email list contained personal, business and former customer contacts. Received demand letter from former employer stating I must not send any more emails to anyone on the list and notify if a customer contacts me.
