My parents were going through a foreclosure at the time and I would see the bills, late letter notices, lien warning letters laying around the office and like a good son told myself,"as long as he is paying you enough of my wages to eat,pay my bills, live...",he is your father and he is good for the rest of the money. At the time he even spoke of me taking over the company some day.Short version on what happened: My father runs a small business. While I was working for him it was him,me and two vinyl fence installation guys.No secretary,AD employee,SEO employee, salesmen, janitors, cleaners, shop manager, fabricators, etc. I was happy to do all of this because I wanted to learn the family business. I suggested we hire a salesmen that can call ALL of the estimates we have given daily and/or until the customer tells us NO. He hired my brother without speaking to me and I showed up Monday without a job. I asked for all of the money he owed me and he told me that I owed him $2,000+...WRONG!
Hi Blake,
Certainly sounds like you may have a claim against your dad and/or his company. Did you have a written contract or was everything done verbally? Anything in writing that can illustrate that you are entitled to commission?
Thanks,Jon
