QUESTION

my friend was fired after working his full shift; is this illegal.

Asked on Aug 03rd, 2015 on Labor and Employment - Ohio
More details to this question:
I knew about a woman who worked her shift and then was fired. She sued and was paid for her loss of job. I wonder if he has any recourse since they fired him at the end of his shift. Shouldn't they have fired him before he began working?

There is no requirement that an employer fire an employee before they work their shift. Employers are only required to pay their employees for all hours worked. If your friend was not paid for all of the hours he worked, then that would be a different issue.   Ohio employment attorney www.mcoffmanlegal.com
