Had a good paying job. Good hours..four tens...mon-thurs. But it was an hour drive. My fiancee got sick and we decided that I would take a paycut to be in the town we live. I found a job. It said in the add..my home town. During the interview I asked again if this was in my home town. Was told yes. They said it would be around fourtu hours a week. Once I go through training and set out..its a mandatory 60 hour work week. And I'm still an hour away from my house. So they lied to recruit me. So I'm making less money...working more hours and still not close to my house if an emergency was to happen. The main reason I left my first job. Do I have any rights as a lied to employee?
If you can prove that the company knew when they met with you that their statements were false, AND that they knew you were relying on their statements when deciding to leave your prior job, you may have a possible claim against them. These types of cases are not easy, but they are possible. It will depend on all the facts. You have provided enough information to warrant meeting with an employment attorney to discuss this in more detail. At that point, you and the attorney can determine if there is enough to make a lawsuit worthwhile, or if it might be better to send a demand letter for either a severance or to obtain the working hours and location you were promised.
