More details to this question:
I signed a non-compete agreement when I was hired. I was promoted to a new position in July and had to sign a new non-compete. My question is "are these both enforcable?" or does the new non-compete nullify the old. The reason this is important is the old one listed the correct geographic area and the new one was never changed and lusted a geographic area more than 1000 miles away. I am looking to change to a new employer and need to know if I am bound to the original non-compete

Non-compete agreements are contracts so it depends on what the four corners of the document says. There may be a clause that says the new non-compete supersedes the old one. However, your employer may have some legal arguments regarding the mistake. At the end of the day, speaking with an attorney is necessary to weigh your options.
