QUESTION

Severance Package

Asked on Feb 01st, 2013 on Employment Contracts - Michigan
More details to this question:
I was laid off with a severance package that included 2000.00$. This amount included pay for 2 weeks, 80 hours of Vacation time and 40 hours of personal time. Initially hired at a pay rate of 26$ an hour, the amount 2000$ does not compensate for all vacation time I was entitled to this year. Wondering if I can legally claim that or Employer is not obligated to pay for any thing after the last day of employment in the State of Michigan.

If you received a severance package, presumably you signed a release of all claims against your employer in return for payments from your employer. Those releases are generally enforceable.
