More details to this question:
so i recently started working for a restaurant. i had my interview over a week ago. this past sunday oct 22 i was asked to come in and trail around a server etc get my layout of the restaurant go over majority of the job and whatnot. after being in management positions one would deem this as training. so i went in at 4pm and stayed til 9...drove 30 mins to get there. in the time there i talked to customers i practiced running food..etc all the things servers do. so my next day of training was scheduled for yesterday, oct 25. i went in and now i was given an employee code and asked to clock in, then was told my hours would be adjusted because i didnt get my number til later..when i was asked if i would get my hours for sunday i was told no and that i owed them some free time and that was not included in training, which was never disclosed to begin with, i feel like i am owed the pay for my time given

The key to answering the question properly is understanding the agreed upon training between you and the employer. The normal situation is that there is an agreed upon compensation for the training period. Is this a national chain ? They would have a written policy. You should be compensated even if it has to be at a reduced rate. Ed Dimon, Esq.
