I was a property Manager who was advised due to myself managing a staff of company policy in regards to disciplinary actions leading toward termination. I was told I would have to verbally discuss the issues and document the conversation with the date and time and Copy regional and HR and when mutual agree between myself and regional we would then move forward with written notification for employee to correct actions then if not corrected after a few write ups then we would look at termination. However I had a new regional start end of Jan. and he then came in and fired me on the spot with no write ups and no warnings nothing. When I called HR and asked why the standards would not be the same for my regional as my self with my staff he stated the decision would stand as they had already communicated and it was a company decision. I would just like to know what I did and Why I was not taken through the company policy's steps as stated to me. Is this wrongful termination?
Termination is "wrongful" in North Carolina only if it is based on unlawful discrimination or unlawful retaliation. I see neither in these facts although other facts could change my view. If you are concerned about this, you should consult with an experienced employment attorney.
