QUESTION

Was I wrongfully terminated?

Asked on Jul 12th, 2016 on Labor and Employment - North Carolina
More details to this question:
I was fired from my job because I was in a fight with a co-worker. We were friends at one time. This co-worker and I had been having problems for a while. And a few times she tried to file false criminal charges against me. She was also telling HR that I was doing things that I wasn't. After I realized she was really trying to make things hard for me I asked my manager if she could keep this person out my work area. I was trying to avoid conflict. She stayed away for awhile but continued to hang around. I have video. We got into a fight in my work area. She pushed me in my work area and I defended myself. She ran to HR saying I attacked her and got a warrant against me. I went and got a warrant against her first. I was terminated. She still has her job. I have never had any type of problems on the job accept with her. She has a disciplinary action file a mile long. She should have been terminated also. I was told I was fired because of some type of policy but never was told what.

North Carolina is an employment-at-will state where you can be terminated for any reason.  You can only file a wrongful termination lawsuit if you can show the termination was motivated by unlawful discrimination or unlawful retaliation.  I see neither in the facts you have presented here.  Even so, if you believe either of those unlawful reasons were behind the termination, then you should consult with an experiencced employment attorney.
