QUESTION

was this legal?

Asked on Oct 29th, 2013 on Labor and Employment - Nevada
More details to this question:
I worked for a franchise of pizza hut for 5 years and I failed an inspection back on june 23 the same day I informed my area coach I was pregnant. on june 26 I was told that I would either have to take a demotion to a store farther from my house or be terminated and I refused the demotion, however since then many stores in the same area have failed multiple inspections with no managers being asked to step down or fired and I am wondering if this sounds like they were looking for a way to get rid of me because I'm pregnant?

Discrimination in employment due to pregnancy can be a violation of Federal and Nevada employment laws.  Your next step should be to investigate the facts and reasons, ask for a copy of your employment file and seek potential redress through the EEOC and/or Nevada Equal Rights Commission.  These claims can be easily time-barred so make sure that time is of the essence in protecting your rights.
