What do I do if I was fired for whistle blowing?

More details to this question:
I have been wrongfully terminated due to retaliation for "whistle blowing". Is this worth my efforts to sue? What's fair to ask for total compensation?

Whistle blowing carries with it employment protections, including against a retaliation termination. There's more to the analysis than simply that, but if you were terminated for blowing the whistle your first call should be to a plaintiff's employment attorney in your area. Damage amounts can vary widely and are very fact-specific.

Illinois law does provide a cause of action for retaliatory discharge as long as the issue you reported is a matter of public interest. If successful, you could be awarded your lost wages and there is also the potential for an award of punitive damages.
