While employed at Interventional Pain Center for the past 1.5 years, I have been taken advantage of, belittled, dehumanized, verbally abused, harassed in front of patients and staff and have undergone weekly and at times daily panic attacks and severe depression as a result of Dr. Desai and the manner in which he conducts his place of employment. On top of an already stressful work environment, his out of line remarks and uncalled for interactions have managed to make my life a living hell. I feel trapped. I am expected to handle a ridiculous amount of work surrounded by absolute chaos and stress. I am expected to perfect a job that is loaded with work for 2-3 workers and told how useless I am when those expectations are not met to his satisfaction. I have went to my HR dept, Operations Supervisor, and anyone else who will listen to me at least 6-7 times and no positive changes are made ever. I am on the edge of a break down each and every work day and management is aware of this.
The law was changed a few years ago to make it nearly impossible to get benefits if you quit. There is some older caselaw that says an employee can be entitled to benefits if the employee can show a unlawful hostile environment. Legally, unlawful hostile environment claims can only exist if, and only if, the conduct is directed toward the employee due to the following: race, color, sex, national origin, religion, disability or age 40 or older. If the hostile environment is not based on one of these "protected classes" then, no matter how bad it is, there simply is no claim for unlawful hostile environment and likely no way to get benefits if you quit.
